A mountain goat and kid enjoy the cool weather and colorful wildflowers on Mt. Evans.
As the temperatures rise in Denver, many inhabitants take to the mountains for relief. Mountain goats, however, don’t have to leave home to stay cool. They just amble a little farther up Mt. Evans and find a shady spot.
It’s peak time right now to see mountain goats and big horn sheep surrounded by wildflowers in the high country of Colorado. I always enjoy making photos that show wildlife in their natural environment, so when I can get goats and flowers together I figure I’ve succeeded.
I made these photos on a recent trip up Mt. Evans, about an hour or so west of Denver. I hope you enjoy them.
I like to think this goat looks like she's about to break into song.
